On Sunday October 14 friends and colleagues celebrated the life of Professor Eleanora (Nora) Cebotarev, who taught and supervised students at the University of Guelph from 1970 to 2007. One hundred and fifty family members, former students, friends and colleaguesa gathered to reflect on her life and to dedicate a tree in Nora’s memory.
At an academic symposium the next day a number of scholars presented research papers on topics related to Nora’s interests.
A series of seminars later in the academic year accommodated visitors who could not arrange travel for the 15th.
Public events to honour and remember Nora were held as well in Brazil and Colombia.
