The College of Arts, College of Management and Economics and the Library host the Historical Data Research Unit. Google, Sharcnet, the Canadian Foundation for Innovation, the Ontario Ministry of Research and Innovation, SSHRC and the Scottish Studies Foundation fund current projects. The Directors are Kris Inwood and Graeme Morton. The Unit is based in Rooms 255 and 256 of the McLaughlin Library.

Post-doctoral fellow Luiza Antonie completed her PhD at the University of Alberta and is now developing the Canadian historical census record linkage system. Luiza is teaching in the University of Guelph Department of Computing and Information Science as part of her post-doctoral experoience. She brings funding from the Ontario Ministry of Research and Information, Google and Sharcnet.

Post-doctoral fellow Andrew Ross (PhD UWO) began in the HDRU January 2009; he contributes to coding and beta testing of the 1871 and 1891 census samples, is working toward the linked census samples and the history of physical well-being in Canada. Andrew brings to the project a broad background in economic, business and sport history; he is lecturing in both Economics and History at the University of Guelph.
