Francis Tapon joined the Department of Economics at the University of Guelph in 1974. He received a Licence (1966) and D.E.S. (1967) from the University of Paris, an M.B.A. in Finance (1969) from Columbia University and an M.A. (1973) and Ph.D. (1974) in Economics and Finance from Duke University. His teaching and research interests are in finance and pharmaceutical economics/strategic management.

His research has been published in journals including the Quarterly Journal of Economics, Journal of Business, Economic Letters, Management Science, Managerial and Decision Economics, Journal of Health Economics, Journal of Economic Behavior and Organization, Canadian Journal of Economics, R&D Management, Applied Financial Economics and the Academy of Management Journal.
